Mit tvOS 13.2 hat Apple soeben das erste große Update zu tvOS 13 veröffentlicht. Das Update kann auf Apple TV (4. und 5. Generation installiert werden. tvOS 13.2 erscheint rund einen Monat nach der Freigabe von tvOS 13. Mit tvOS 13 bekommt Apple TV 4K einen neuen faszinierenden Home-Bildschirm und Unterstützung für mehrere Benutzer, die Zugriff auf ihre eigenen TV-Sendungen, Filme, Songs und Empfehlungen haben. Zudem liefert es Unterstützung für Apple Arcade sowie noch mehr Gamecontroller und beeindruckt mit neuen, unter Wasser gefilmten 4K HDR Bildschirmschonern.
Während der Beta-Phase zu tvOS 13.2 sind uns keine neuen Funktionen über den Weg gelaufen, so dass wir davon ausgehen, dass sich Apple ausschließlich um Bugfixes und Leistungsverbesserungen gekümmert hat

Installation

tvOS 13 könnt ihr bequem über AppleTV -> Einstellungen -> System -> Softwareupdates -> „Software aktualisieren“ installieren.

AppleTV 5 mit 4K Ultra HD und HDR in Arbeit

AppleTV 5 in Arbeit. Im Herbst 2015 hat Apple die aktuelle vierte AppleTV Generation vorgestellt und auf den Markt gebracht. Im Vergleich zur Vorgängerversion gab es zahlreiche Änderungen. So setzt Apple unter anderem auf einen tvOS App Store, in dem mittlerweile mehrere Tausend Apps auf ihren Download warten und auf eine Siri-Fernbedienung. Natürlich macht sich Apple längst Gedanken zu AppleTV 5. Generation und nun gibt es einen ersten Einblick.

AppleTV 5 mit 4K in Arbeit

In der Tat fallen uns spontan ein paar Dinge ein, wie sich AppleTV verbessern lässt. Unter anderem könnte Apple der kleinen Medienbox eine Ultra HD Videoausgabe einhauchen. Dies macht natürlich nur Sinn, wenn auch entsprechende Inhalte vorhanden sind. Aktuell finden wir es noch nicht schlimm, dass Apple auf 4K bei AppleTV verzichtet. 4K Fernseher sind noch nicht sehr verbreitet und 4K Inhalte sind auch noch verhältnismäßig selten. Nichtsdestotrotz sollte Apple früher oder später auf 4K setzen und auch Inhalte in entsprechender Qualität anbieten.
Am heutigen Tag meldet sich Bloomberg und genauer gesagt Mark German zu Wort, um seine Erkenntnisse zu AppleTV 5 zu teilen. Es heißt, dass Apple derzeit die fünfte AppleTV Generation testet und diese im Laufe des Jahres präsentieren könnte. Intern trägt das Gerät die Bezeichnung „J105“. Die Medienbox soll über eine 4K Videoausgabe und eine verbesserte Farbdarstellung verfügen. Dies dürfte die AppleTV Verkaufszahlen wieder deutlich ankurbeln, da auch immer mehr Menschen beim Fernseh-Neukauf, auf den Ultra HD Support achten. Auch die TV-Branche dürfte davon ein Stück weit profitieren.
Doch Gurman hält noch ein paar weitere interessante Aspekte parat. Die aktuelle AppleTV Generation besaß bei einem Prototypen sogar einen Antennenanschluss zum Empfang von Kabelfernsehen. Apple wollte die Oberfläche entwickeln und Fernsehsender integrieren. Von dieser Idee wich man jedoch wieder ab. Die neue TV App sollte als Hauptbildschirm für AppleTV dienen, allerdings wurde diese eine einzelne App für AppleTV, iPhone und iPad.
Intern spielt Apple bei der Entwicklung von AppleTV mit unterschiedlichen Ideen. Eine Idee war es, einen eigenen Gamecontroller anzubieten, um mit der Playstation oder der Xbox zu konkurrieren. Eine weitere Idee ist die Integration eines Mikrofons direkt ins Gerät.
Aber auch beim Interface-Design gibt es viele Gedanken. Aktuell ähnelt die Benutzeroberfläche einem iPhone. Allerdings wünschen sich einige Apple Ingenieure ein revolutionäreres Design. Auch hier verfolgt man derzeit unterschiedliche Konzepte.
Vor wenigen Tagen wurde bekannt, dass der ehemalige Fire TV Chef Timothy D. Twerdhal zu Apple gewechselt ist und sich dort um AppleTV kümmert. Dieser soll der Angelegenheit neues Leben einhauchen. Sein Vorgänger Pete Distad hat dadurch wieder mehr Kapazitäten frei, um Deals mit Rechteinhaber aushandeln zu können.

Facebook bestätigt Video-App für AppleTV

Bereits vor ein paar Tagen geisterte das Gerücht umher, dass das soziale Netzwerk Facebook an einer eigenen App für AppleTV arbeitet. Nun erreicht uns die offizielle Bestätigung.


Facebook wird in Kürze auch auf AppleTV verfügbar sein. Im Rahmen der Code Media Konferenz hat Dan Rose (Facebook Vice President of Partnerships) bestätigt, dass sein Unternehmen in Kürze eine App für AppleTV bereit stellen wird.
Facebook kommt auf euren Fernseher. Das Unternehmen wird eine eigene Video-App für sogenannte Set-Top Boxen, unter anderem für AppleTV, Amazon Fire TV und Smart TVs zur Verfügung stellen.

How to Factory Reset your Apple TV in just a few steps

Sooner or later you may want to sell your apple TV or maybe even gift it to one of your friends. Or, you’ve tried to jailbreak your TV and in the process bricked it. Whichever the case though, the good news is that you don’t need to worry about getting another one. How come? Well, if you know how to reset apple tv then you can once again enjoy watching your favorite content on it in no time.
If this is the first time you’re trying to reset your Apple TV, it’s important to know that there are 2 ways you can do this. The first method involves resetting the TV from the Settings menu. This assumes that you can boot up the TV and use the menus. If you can do this, then way to go!
On the other hand, if you haven’t really used your TV in a while and you don’t think you’re ever going to use it anytime soon, then you may want to donate or sell it. Before you do that, you need to wipe off any sensitive data on it. Doing so is simple and you just have to use iTunes to complete the process.
There’s also the case when your TV doesn’t work anymore because you tried to update the firmware and accidentally lost power to the device. Or maybe you did something else that bricked it. With that in mind below we’ll take a closer look at your options.

You can boot your Apple TV

If your Apple TV boots, then you can use the console in order to reset it. To do that, you should access the main menu and then go to Settings. Here, make sure to click on General. After you access this menu, you should scroll to the bottom. There you’ll see that you can actually reset your Apple TV without unplugging it and then proceeding to plug it back in. Choose the Reset option.

At this point, you’ll be able to cancel or restore your device to the original settings it shipped with. You can also reset your configuration and account. The option for doing so is called Reset All Settings.
Keep in mind that if you click Restore, then you’ll not only wipe the data on your Apple TV, but you’ll also download and install the latest software updates for it.

You can’t boot your Apple TV

If something bad happened and you cannot boot your Apple TV or maybe your Apple TV doesn’t operate properly, then don’t worry. This can be easily fixed by restoring it. Just connect it to your personal computer or laptop and factory reset it by using iTunes.
The first step you have to take though is to unplug the Apple TV. Next, get a mini USB cable and plug it into the back of the Apple TV. The USB port can be found below the HDMI port. The other end of the USB cable should be plugged into your laptop or personal computer.
At this point, your Apple TV should be connected, so be sure to plug it back in. If it’s not already running, iTunes will be launched automatically to recognize the Apple TV. There are 2 options you can choose from now, but remember that we want to fix the Apple TV. Therefore, we’ll click on Restore Apple TV.

Once you do that, you’ll be requested to confirm that you want to restore your Apple TV. Click on Restore and Update. You will need to wait a while, depending on your internet connection, for the Apple TV software to be installed. When the installation is complete, you’ll be able to boot the Apple TV and reconnect it to your TV.

Protect your privacy

Knowing how to factory reset your Apple TV goes a long way into helping you enjoy it once again. Once Apple will release a new Apple TV, a lot of people who currently own one may decide to sell it. Knowing how to reset it in order to wipe out sensitive data is very important to protect your privacy. Apple Releases tvOS 10.0.1 Update for Apple TV 4

Apple has released tvOS 10.0.1 software update for 4th generation Apple TV users. After providing 4 betas for testing, the software is now available for the public.
We previously posted an article detailing all that’s new in the tvOS 10.0.1 betas. The first beta was released on September 21st. Now, regular Apple TV 4 users can finally download and install the software to see what’s new.
This is the first minor update for the 4th gen Apple TV since the release of tvOS 10 last month. As this is a minor software release, you will not find any features as such.
The Single sign-on feature is also not included in this update. That feature, is probably going to be available in tvOS 10.1.

tvOS 10 Now Available for Apple TV: How to Install

Apple recently released the public version of tvOS 10 for Apple TV 4 as promised and it includes some new and useful features. Here’s how to install tvOS 10 on your Apple TV.
tvOS 10 is only available for the fourth generation Apple TV, which is going to be disappointing for some. If you own an older Apple TV, it’s best you upgrade or continue using tvOS 9.2 for now.
The latest update includes several new features, improvements and bug fixes. Prior to releasing the software update, Apple released the new Apple TV Remote App. The app lets you control your TV using your iPhone as the remote. You can use your iPhone as a game controller as well.

The most important new feature in tvOS 10 is the ability to use Siri to control your Apple TV. You can launch apps, channels, search for videos and a lot more. With the new Siri Remote included in the Apple TV 4, it is super easy to search for a movie or a TV Show.
Apple has also included a new Dark Mode, which makes the background go dark and makes the movie/music posters and photos pop. There’s a new Single sign-on feature that lets you launch apps such as FXNow and HBO GO by using your credentials only for the first time. After that, it’ll automatically sign in.
Other changes with the update includes a new interface for Apple Music, which makes it easy to find music. tvOS 10 supports  HomeKit, allowing you to dim lights, lower temperature and control other HomeKit connected devices right from your Apple TV. There’s a new Memories section in iCloud Photos, which will show you new photos and videos that you haven’t looked at or forgotten about.
How to Install tvOS 10 on Apple TV 4
It’s quite easy to install the latest tvOS update on your Apple TV. If you own the latest 4th generation Apple TV and have automatic software updates enabled, then the update will be installed on its own.
If you haven’t enabled automatic updates, then you’ll need to download tvOS 10 manually. Here’s how to do it;

• Turn on Apple TV, open Settings and navigate to System.
• Now select Software Updates under Maintenance.
• Next, click on Update Software and select Download and Install when asked.
• Once the download is done, click on Update Now.

That’s about it. Wait for the update to finish and your Apple TV to reboot. You’ll now be on the latest software available for the Apple TV 4.

Neue AppleTV Remote App ist da

Neue AppleTV Remote App steht als Download bereit. Nachdem Apple im Laufe des Abends die Beta 4 zu iOS 10, macOS Sierra, tvOS 10 und watchOS 3 sowie iTunes 12.4.3 zum Download bereit gestellt hat, steht ein weiterer Download zur Verfügung. Früher als gedacht, hat Apple seine Apple TV Remote App im App Store platziert.

Bereits vor Wochen hatte Apple die neue AppleTV Remote App angekündigt und eine Beta-Phase eröffnet. Ehrlicherweise gingen wir davon aus, dass die finale Version im Herbst erscheinen wird. Nun geht es jedoch deutlich schneller und ab sofort kann Apple TV Remote aus dem App Store geladen werden.
In den Release-Notes heißt es wie folgt

Apple TV Remote ist der perfekte Begleiter für Ihr Apple TV und nutzt die Siri Remote optimal aus. Mit Apple TV Remote können Sie Ihr Apple TV bedienen, ohne das iPhone aus der Hand zu legen. Steuern Sie Apple TV mit einem Fingerstreich oder nutzen Sie die Tastatur, um schnell Text einzugeben. Und die App kann zusammen mit der Siri Remote verwendet werden.

• Navigieren Sie Ihr Apple TV mit Touch-Gesten.
• Geben Sie mit der Tastatur Text, E-Mail-Adressen und Passwörter schneller ein.
• Bitten Sie Siri, etwas Tolles zum Ansehen, Anhören oder Spielen zu finden.
• Steuern Sie den Film, die TV-Sendung oder den Titel, die gerade gespielt werden.

Apple TV Remote app for Apple TV 4 now available for testing

Apple announced at this year’s WWDC  they are working on a new version of the Remote app for iPhone and iPad that will get all the features of the Apple TV Siri Remote, including touch navigation, Siri and game play support. According to CNET, the redesigned app will be released to the public this summer but the beta version is now available for testing and can be accessed by registered developers.
After downloading the Apple TV Remote IPA, you will be able to install the app directly to your iPhone or iPad via iTunes. The app requires an iPhone or iPad running iOS 9.3.2 or later, and the Apple TV running tvOS 9.2.1 or later.

As noted by 9to5Mac, the new Apple TV Remote will allow you to:

• Navigate Apple TV with touch gestures
• Ask Siri to find something great to watch, listen to, or play
• Dictate text, including usernames and passwords
• Enter text with the keyboard
• Play games using the accelerometer and gyroscope on your iOS device
• Game Mode with simplified game controls, available while holding your iOS device in a landscape orientation
• Controll the movie, TV show, or song that’s currently playing in the Now Playing screen

iPad dient unter iOS 10 als HomeKit-Hub – genau wie AppleTV

Bisher ist es so, dass die HomeKit-Plattform ein AppleTV benötigt, damit Anwender aus der Ferne auf HomeKit Zubehör zugreifen können. Solltet ihr beispielsweise auf HomeKit-kompatible LED-Lampen setzen, müsst ihr zwingend ein AppleTV besitzen, welches sich im gleichen Netzwerk befindet, wie die Lampen, wenn ihr diese von unterwegs aus bedienen wolltet. Mit iOS 10 wird sich dies maßgeblich ändern.

iPad dient unter iOS 10 als HomeKit-Hub

Mit iOS 10 wird sich die Tatsache ändern, dass AppleTV als einziger HomeKit-Hub dient. iOS 10 sorgt dafür, dass auch das iPad als HomeKit-Hub genutzt werden kann. Doch nicht nur das. Mit iOS 10 können auch mehrere Geräte gleichzeitig als Hub dienen, so dass ihr euer „HomeKit-Netzwerk“ erweitern könnt. Das hat natürlich den Vorteil, dass Kunden, die gerne HomeKit von unterwegs nutzen möchten, nicht zwangsläufig ein AppleTV kaufen müssen, wenn sich ein iPad besitzen. iPad und AppleTV arbeiten mit iOS 10 und tvOS 10 zusammen, so 9to5Mac.
Mit iOS 10 wird Apple auch eine eigene Home-App anbieten, mit der ihr euer HomeKit-Zubehör einrichten, steuern etc. könnt. Dies bietet auch den Vorteil, dass ihr über das iPad, auch wenn ihr nicht zu Hause seid, verschiedene Automechanismen inkl. Szenen, zeitbasierten Aktionen etc. nutzen könnt.
Darüberhinaus hat Apple im Rahmen der WWDC Keynote bekannt gegeben, dass weitere Zubehörkategorien (z.B. Klimaanlagen, Kameras, Türklingeln) zu HomeKit hinzugefügt werden. Mit iOS 10 und tvOS 10 scheint Apple der Heimautomatisierung HomeKit einen enormen Schub zu geben.
