Native Instruments has announced the release of Phasis, a freeware phaser effect in VST, AU, and AAX plugin formats for PC and Mac. The company is also offering a $25 e-voucher valid towards any purchase in their online store.
Phasis is a true stereo phaser effect in digital form. It mimics the sounds of classic phaser units of the past while adding a modern twist with a few innovative features. The Spread dial changes the spacing between the notches, resulting in a thicker sound on the output, somewhat similar to a doubler effect. The Ultra switch, positioned in the middle of the GUI, triggers extremely high modulation rates which produce FM-style sounds.
As for the other, more standard phaser controls, there are the modulation rate and amount controls, the feedback knob, as well as stereo and mix adjustments. The number of notches can be set to any number between two and twelve. Phasis also features a built-in preset manager with a decent selection of factory presets, as well as A/B testing functionality. The GUI is perhaps a smaller than needed for comfortable use on HD screens and, surprisingly, non-resizable.
To claim your free copy of Phasis, visit the download page and enter your email address in the email field. Your personal Phasis serial number will be instantly delivered to your inbox. You will need to install the Native Access license manager first, log in to your Native Instruments Account, and enter the provided serial number. The license manager software needs to be updated after installation, so I’m not sure if offline installation of Phasis is possible at the moment.
Apart from the free Phasis plugin, Native Instruments is giving away $25 e-vouchers for use in their online store. The voucher code NIHOLIDAYS2017 will expire on January 1st, 2018. You can also enter the draw for a chance to win a bundle of Native Instruments’ flagship products including NI Maschine, Komplete 11 Ultimate, Komplete Kontrol S49, and Traktor Kontrol S8 ($3,596 value).
